چکیده

© 2014 Soojong Lim et al. 429 http://dx.doi.org/10.4218/etrij.14.0113.0645 Semantic role labeling (SRL) is a task in naturallanguage processing with the aim of detecting predicates in the text, choosing their correct senses, identifying their associated arguments, and predicting the semantic roles of the arguments. Developing a high-performance SRL system for a domain requires manually annotated training data of large size in the same domain. However, such SRL training data of sufficient size is available only for a few domains. Constructing SRL training data for a new domain is very expensive. Therefore, domain adaptation in SRL can be regarded as an important problem. In this paper, we show that domain adaptation for SRL systems can achieve state-of-the-art performance when based on structural learning and exploiting a prior model approach. We provide experimental results with three different target domains showing that our method is effective even if training data of small size is available for the target domains. According to experimentations, our proposed method outperforms those of other research works by about 2% to 5% in F-score.

Abstract Extracting semantic roles is one of the major steps in representing text meaning. It refers to finding the semantic relations between a predicate and syntactic constituents in a sentence. In this paper we present a semantic role labeling system for Persian, using memory-based learning model and standard features. Our proposed system implements a two-phase architecture to first identify...

Deep Unsupervised Domain Adaptation for Image Classification via Low Rank Representation Learning

Domain adaptation is a powerful technique given a wide amount of labeled data from similar attributes in different domains. In real-world applications, there is a huge number of data but almost more of them are unlabeled. It is effective in image classification where it is expensive and time-consuming to obtain adequate label data. We propose a novel method named DALRRL, which consists of deep ...

Automatic identification of words with semantic roles (such as Agent, Patient, Source, etc.) in sentences and attaching correct semantic roles to them, may lead to improvement in many natural language processing tasks including information extraction, question answering, text summarization and machine translation. Semantic role labeling systems usually take advantage of syntactic parsing and th...

Semantic Role Labeling Via Integer Linear Programming Inference

We present a system for the semantic role labeling task. The system combines a machine learning technique with an inference procedure based on integer linear programming that supports the incorporation of linguistic and structural constraints into the decision process. The system is tested on the data provided in CoNLL2004 shared task on semantic role labeling and achieves very competitive resu...

Self-Training without Reranking for Parser Domain Adaptation and Its Impact on Semantic Role Labeling

We compare self-training with and without reranking for parser domain adaptation, and examine the impact of syntactic parser adaptation on a semantic role labeling system. Although self-training without reranking has been found not to improve in-domain accuracy for parsers trained on the WSJ Penn Treebank, we show that it is surprisingly effective for parser domain adaptation. We also show that...
